Welcome to Grant and Lynda’s home page at Perikoy Villa in Side, Turkey.
We have been asked, 'Why a map of Africa?' on the top. I thought everybody knew! We used to go there every February for a month diving but sadly we haven't managed it since we've lived here. However, we did go to Egypt in March 2007 and froze our backsides off. Needless to say, we both ended up ill and I was bedridden for 2 days.
WE HOPE TO BE GOING BACK TO KENYA SOON!!!
We created this site to keep all our family and friends up to date with what we are up to in Turkey. From time to time, we will add bits and pieces to the site to whet your appetites before you come and visit us.
The villa is not far from the beautiful town of Side, on the Turkish Mediterranean coast and is actually situated between the villages of Colakli and Gundogdu. Side is not as vibrant as Marmaris, Bodrum and Fethiye but neither is it inundated with noisy nightclubs and bars. If you want a relaxing holiday in the most spectacular surroundings, then Side is the place for you. We are only 800 metres from the beach and 5 minutes from Colakli market, where we do our fruit and veg shopping.
If you are one of our many good friends visiting our website, please remember, we live here permanently and are not on holiday. We have a limited budget, so if you visit, we won't be going out for meals every night or sitting on the terrace boozing. We try to live as we did in the UK, going out on a Friday night for a few drinks and occasionally a nice meal. Our car is also very expensive to run here, as petrol is dearer than in Blighty. With all of this in mind, we won't refuse if you make a donation towards petrol when we pick you up from the airport, as we'll still be cheaper than the sky high taxi prices, currently running at £60 one way. Likewise, if you want to make a donation to the housekeeping budget, it will be most welcome.
Please browse our site and feel free to comment on its content or suggest what you would like to see added.
Don't forget to visit our other site for loads of good stuff at : www.joli-triste.com and you can also read about some of the crap I've had over the last year by clicking on this link Meliha Kaplan
This link also proves that Turkey is NOT Utopia and whatever you do, if you want to buy here, speak to an ex-pat first and you will save yourself a lot of time, grief and money www.turkishliving.com/forums/side-forum/
