We purchased our villa in September 2004 and it was originally 2 semi-detached houses.  This entailed extensive alterations, i.e., knocking out walls, removing a staircase, constructing new walls, removing and adding new pipework, electric cables and doors etc.

The finished result is a huge 4 bedroom family home on 3 floors.  There are loads of property bargains in this area but be very careful who you buy from.  Talk to other Ex-Pats and check out the rogue list at www.emlaks-from-hell.co.uk
On the ground floor, we have a lounge measuring approx 23’ x 15’, a kitchen 13’ x 10’ and a dining room 10’ x 10’ with a toilet under the stairs.  We also have a terrace off the lounge approx 23’ x 9’ and a terrace at the back 27’ x 6’.  I removed the divider wall on the front terrace in 2010 at great cost to my back and our housekeeping budget. You would also benefit from removing the divider wall on the back terrace.

From the dining room, the marble staircase leads up to the landing area of the first floor, where there is a huge amount of useful space.  This floor has a double suite en-suite,  a twin bed en-suite and a further double bedroom, which we currently utilise as a workroom.

From the first floor, the staircase goes up to the top floor, which is one huge bedroom
with a shower room and huge built in wardrobes.  This room leads onto a massive roof terrace that now measures 24’ x 11', since I removed the terrace divider wall.  The line of mosaic you can see on the bottom pic is where the divider wall was.

The view from the top terrace is stunning and we have a continual warm breeze due to the close proximity of the mountains and the villa being built on a hill.  You could bring your BBQ up here and have some terrific parties but it would benefit from some shade.

I removed half of the roof in September 2010 and finally found all of the persistent leaks that have plagued us since we moved in.  The villa is now watertight.
